Regional Colleges

The purpose and goal of the World University regional college system is to link education, science, and culture into a single, nontraditional, transformational, unified, academic community of holistic learning in the spirit of world service and for the advancement of a new and more humane world civilization.

Fifty years ago, the globalization of education was only a dream, and the regional college system on a world scale only a long range vision. Today, it is more than probable that such a vision will materialize and the world will accept a new view of what true education can be like.

The concept of a regional college system as a part of a larger university is not new. Most state universities in the United States operate under such a system. What is new is taking that concept into the world as a whole and creating a world academic community where each regional college is self-actuated and self-sustaining within a national jurisdiction, but part of an extended world university with an international administration.

The World University, which was founded by the WU Roundtable institution so long ago, has come to be known as the pioneer in international education with a universal, spiritual motivation. Called the "Grandaddy" of all such experiments by Dr. Robert Muller, former assistant secretary general of the United Nations, the WU has sustained a steady, although slow, growth toward fulfilling the vision that gave it birth.

The first of these regional colleges to act as a prototype of others being contemplated is the North American Regional College located at the Desert Sanctuary Campus of the World University. Here within commuting distance of Tucson, Arizona, with access to the Internet, this original unit of the University is pioneering a vision of the future of education with a global outlook.
